When is the best time to fly to Auckland?

Auckland is a popular destination all year round, so there is no cheapest month. Prices vary day by day, which can impact the fare for your preferred travel dates. You may find cheaper flights during the middle of a weekday, or on a weekend. Keep in mind that flight prices could increase over school holiday periods. Peak season periods like Christmas and Easter could be more expensive. Remember these tips when you plan a visit to Auckland.

If you're flying from a smaller regional airport, your flight may take you to Auckland via one of the main airports.

The Airport Link bus leaves every 10 minutes for the Puhinui rail interchange, from where you can take a train into Auckland. The trip usually takes less than an hour. You can board the Airport Link bus at the domestic or the international terminal, and you'll need an AT Hop pre-paid card to pay for your fare. (You can buy an AT Hop card at the airport.) For a faster trip, book a taxi or rental car. You can do this with us when you book your Air New Zealand flight. Taxis can get you to the city centre in about 25 minutes, or 40 minutes in peak hour traffic.

What can I do when I fly to Auckland?

What is the weather like in Auckland?

Auckland is the warmest of New Zealand's main cities and one of the sunniest, with warm humid summers and mild damp winters. Temperatures are mild, even in the summer months. They reach an average of 24°C (75°F) in February, the warmest month, and 15°C (59°F) in July. It's on an isthmus, so its climate is dominated by the sea. That usually keeps temperatures milder than most inland centres.
